The minimum age needed for NIOS secondary admission is 14 and there is no maximum age bar for a beginner. As on 31st July 2018 (born by 31.07.2004)

The minimum age needed for NIOS senior secondary admission is 15 and there is no maximum age bar for the learner. As on 31st July 2018 (born by 31.07.2003)

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA FOR  NIOS ONLINE ADMISSION

NIOS  SECONDARY

Any applicant who has completed their class 8 and they have a valid document can apply in NIOS Secondary admission. Else you have to provide self-certificate.

NIOS SENIOR SECONDARY

Candidate passed from a regular board like CBSE, ICSE, ISC or any other valid government reorganized board can apply for NIOS senior secondary course.

 Medium of learning

I have not seen these types of distance board in my life, Lots of regional languages are available.

The NIOS offers the Secondary course in English, Hindi, Urdu, Marathi, Odia, Telugu, Gujarati, Tamil and Malayalam mediums, and the Senior Secondary course in English, Hindi, Odia, Bengali, Gujarati and Urdu mediums.

But the question paper will be in Hindi and English, you can write in other languages.
